Me, An Insurance Agent?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 3/31/2011 12:15:00 PM in | 0 comments

Right now, everything in my home seems to be breaking down left and right. I'm running out of my supplies and I just wish I can splurge on everything I need. But reality says no to that, and I have to stick to my budget. Making money online isn't all it's cracked up to be.. although once upon a time, I have to admit that I really did enjoy the earnings. These days, it's just "meh". However, I am THANKFUL nonetheless for every single cent that I get. :)

I have no idea why, but my best friend keeps asking me to try and be an insurance agent. Like seriously, what part of me "looks and sounds" like I can sell insurance?? Just the thought of doing it makes me feel like I lost my family and friends already!! LOL!

But desperate times calls for desperate measures, they say. Right now I'm not desperate YET.. Who knows, when I am.. I'll probably be the spokesperson for estatecarinsure.com!! LOL! :)

We Need the FBI On This

I'm currently on a Criminal Minds marathon right now. We cruised through season 4 and 5 and now watching season 6 and let me tell you, it's doing me more harm than good. I get so paranoid lately, like every single time a person gets in the lift with me, I think he/she is gonna go all PSYCHO on me. Seriously.

Anyways, did you guys hear about those acid attacks going around in Klang Valley?? That's super freaky okay!! I was supposed to read through the terms and conditions of the Blue Cross Blue Shield NC the other day but I couldn't read a word because I was too preoccupied with that case.

Even the husband was saying, we need Garcia to get in on this case and check out whose been purchasing or has access to those acids in the past few months. LOL! We speak Criminal Minds at home these days.

But really. I'm scared. :S

Mumbles and Tumbles

If you've been wondering where I am when I'm not blogging or tweeting, just head on over to my tumblr and you'll find me there. First thing I open in the day and last thing I close at night. LOL! :) It's horrible. Right now I kinda remember why I stopped tumblr-ing the last time around. Because I get nothing done!

However, I did find a cool discovery on tumblr the other day. I started following the blog EVERLANE and I found out that they had a great variety of awesome products for men. I was attracted to it because everyone knows how I forgot the husband's birthday, right?

So when I found Everlane -- an online boutique for men curated by a growing group of designers, musicians and innovators, I was psyched. :) The style is more my man.. he's not really into coogi clothing, even if it's cool and all. It's just not his style.

Hmm.. so it really wasn't a waste of time, tumblr-ing and stuff, huh? :) Okay, I'm gonna go back to tumblring. See ya later!

I Want You

Another song dedication for my husband this week on Music Monday because:

a) I'm an ass for forgetting his birthday.
b) He deserves all the song dedications in the world for being a wonderful husband to me and a wonderful father to our children.
c) Just because.

The lyrics don't play into my dedication but I just love this song anyway.. I Want You by Kings of Leon:

p/s: I can't believe I haven't featured this song before. Or have I? Around this time in 2009, this song was on my most played list on iTunes.

Toon Junkies!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 3/27/2011 08:38:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

My children are cartoon junkies. They know every single theme song on every channel, Nickleodeon, Playhouse Disney, Disney Channel (those with children in the house would know that those are two SEPARATE channels), Cartoon Network, etc.

Right now you might be thinking and judging what kind of a mom am I, putting my children in front of the television ALL DAY LONG, right? Well, let me tell you something. If you are a stay at home mom, with laundry to do (including folding and ironing), cleaning (bedrooms, living room, bathrooms, kitchen), cooking (breakfast, lunch and dinner) PLUS another 1001 things on your to-do-list, you'd know that the cartoons are the best babysitter in times of need.

Of course, that's not ALL they do. Of course I DO spend time with them.. we have playtime, reading time and just general quality time, but yes, I will admit that I will turn on the TV and put on Sesame Street or Dora, The Explorer when I need a breather.

Nowadays, though, my son is really getting into Digimon. Remember Digimon?

The famous digital monster franchise that once ruled every household? Well, my son was influenced by his cousins the last time we went back to my hometown, so right now, he's getting pretty into it. Before long, he'll be asking me to buy the digimon dvd season 3 now!

Thank God for ToonJunkie.com, or else I wouldn't know where to find all these past seasons of cartoon dvds, especially if you're looking for cartoons from the 80's.. like Silverhawks, Transformers and even older cartoon series like Aquaman!!

Although my children are into cartoons, at least they're not game junkies. I don't buy my children console games like Xbox, PSP, Nintendo and the like. It just looks like kids nowadays are zombie-fied by games and it honestly freaks me out! :S

Deals on European Hotels

Posted by Shemah Sham | 3/25/2011 03:45:00 PM in | 0 comments

I have never stepped foot on European soil. The only places I've been to are Sydney and Melbourne and most of the states in U.S. During the times I grew up in the U.S., every summer, my family would travel across the country for sightseeing.

I would LOVE to go to Europe, one day, though! I haven't been traveling anywhere much these past few years, despite my significant other working in the airline industry and the family receives benefits as well.

Things might change in the future, because my children are bigger now, (they're almost 7 and 4 respectively) so it's much easier to travel with them. No diapers, no bottles, no crying. However, it still means if we were to go to Europe, I definitely have to find the best European hotel that is child friendly!

I would love to visit: the ancient city of Rome (I love historical places!!).....

Spain (one of my dream destinations!!).....

Paris (to visit friends who have migrated there!!)....

Germany (my parents loved it when they went there for a vacation!!)...

...and perhaps end the trip in Aberdeen, UK (where I can visit my cousin who's living there with her family now).

Since the flight tickets to Europe are basically free except for airport tax and insurance, we'll be able to spend a bit more on better accommodation. Therefore, I need to meticulously go through Europe hotel reviews to find the best ones that are suitable for my family and for my budget.

My mom is planning a Europe trip with my younger sister -- she wants to take a good long vacation after helping plan my brother's wedding -- so she's also asking me to look up any wonderful Europe vacation deals

If any of you have other information on how to plan a Europe family vacation with young children, by all means, hit me up with a comment! If you too, are looking for great European accommodation deals, EuropeanHotels.co is a good place to start!

Means To an End

I was window shopping online the past 2 days and I was just itching to get something. An activity that is strongly not recommended for a compulsive shopper like I am. What makes it worse is that the site that I was browsing and window shopping at, offered free worldwide shipping.

Normally it's hard to find a site that even ships to my country so imagine how I felt seeing that not only did they ship over to my country, but it was FREE!! By golly if I didn't have to think of my flight tickets back home, my son's tux for his uncle's wedding and other things I need to shop for, trust me you, I would have had 2 dresses on their way over here.

So these aren't the dresses that I wanted, but here are some of the other dresses available at the site

At the same time, I know I need to be more frugal with my spending. It's so ridiculous to spend money not knowing when your next paycheck is coming. (That's what you get for making money online and not holding down a regular job). Perhaps I should check out charlotte jobs and see what they have in store for me. That way, I can earn more and satisfy my shopping compulsions at the same time! :D Sounds heavenly, no?? :)

Merchant Accounts for your Business

Posted by Shemah Sham | 3/05/2011 10:26:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

I have always been interesting about setting up a business of my own. Recently, my older brother was practically "interviewing" me regarding my business ideas. He wants to help me set up my own business but he wants to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into and all the details that go into setting up a business.

I actually prefer to set up an online business because the overhead costs are much lower than renting a space somewhere. My brother is the conventional type and prefers me setting up a business in a much more conventional style. He also doesn't see how people can purchase products online via credit card and how people can just pass up their credit card details online. I know, he needs to go online more.

Anyways, I told him that there are services out there that offer different merchant account types that cater to your kind of business. For example, the E-Commerce merchant account allows you to accept a variety of payments (credit/debit cards, gift cards, electronic checks, etc), sets you up with a system that prevent frauds specialize in risk management. Meanwhile, the Phone/Mail Merchant account cater for "card-not-present" transactions in which you never take physical possession of your customers credit card.

Whatever merchant account you apply for, you are at ease knowing that a company like the Flagship Merchant Services are there to help you while providing your customers a sense of ease, convenience and trust when purchasing from you. Nowadays, customers are also much happier with the passing of credit law that helps curb interest rates and force more disclosure from credit card companies on potential fees.

Well, after all that said, I'm sure my brother has confidence in me that I can set up my own business after seeing how knowledgeable and well informed I am. However, it would be a while to set up my business.. like you all know, Rome wasn't built in a day! :)

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Posted by Shemah Sham | 3/01/2011 04:16:00 PM in | 0 comments

I've been feeling a little bit melancholy lately. It's been going on ever since I came back from KK. It messed up my mojo.. but in 10 days or so, I'll be back in KK to help my family with the preparations for my brother's wedding. It's already March and we only have about 16 days more to go. Soooo soon! I wish I could just put a brake on time!

Anyways, I missed Music Monday again this week but better late than never, right? Here's a piano piece by Smashing Pumpkins which I have LOOOOVED for so long. I love piano pieces and Smashing Pumpkins was definitely one of my favorite bands growing up. This is the title track from their 3rd album.

Enjoy!
