Use Me Up - Hanson

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/27/2010 02:45:00 AM in | 0 comments

Use Me Up is the 8th track off of Hanson's latest album, Shout It Out, and it is hands down, my favorite song in the album. The album itself is a wonderful mixture of soul and jazz and rock 'n' roll.. It definitely is a great departure from the hits we listen to on the radio these days. None of those voice synthesizers we hear so much of.

This particular song is sung by the youngest of the Hanson trio, Zac.. It's a deep, heartbreaking ballad that shows their skills as wonderful songwriters/producers/musicians/vocalist. I can so see this track being chosen by Chris Mollere (music director for Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries) to be featured on one of the shows. Vampire Diaries, most preferably.

Anyways, take a listen and I assure you, you will be impressed. Hanson's 8th studio album, Shout It Out was released in June 2010. Check it out at stores near you!

Enjoy the song! Happy Music Monday!

Christmas Weekend

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/26/2010 12:23:00 PM in | 0 comments

Hey everyone! How's your Christmas holidays so far?

After coming back from Mel and Dan's Christmas party yesterday, I was too lazy to go anywhere else so the husband and I just spent the whole day watching Criminal Minds. I think I've been watching on too many crime shows that I think I can tell which ones are blackhawk holsters just by looking at them. Hehehe I kid. I kid.

By night time, the hubs was in the mood for a movie.. At first he chose Kick-Ass insisting he hasn't watched it before but once he realized he did, (I told you so!), we ended up watching Jason Reitman's Up In The Air. It was one of my fave movies for 2009 so I didn't mind watching it again.

Oh and my kids called us up on Skype well after midnight.. they seem to have lost a bedtime schedule ever since they've been staying with my mom for the holidays. It's gonna be a terror when school starts! Urgh.

Yeah, so that's all the holiday weekend round up on my side. Hope you guys had an equally fun time this Christmas!

Basket of Cheer

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/25/2010 01:40:00 PM in | 0 comments

Merry Christmas everyone!

Have any Christmas parties to attend to? Don't know what to bring to the party? I know most people give out wine for the hosts and the hosts end up with enough wine to pour for a third world country. For those of us here living in a multi-racial Malaysia, people from different religions come together to celebrate. If you're a Muslim and feel uncomfortable going out and buying wine, then you can also get a nice Basket Chocolate Fruit Gift. Nothing like a basket of chocs to set the holiday cheer.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a good time today. Please be safe, don't drink and drive, don't tweet and drive and don't go crazy on the eggnog! LOL! Happy Holidays everyone! :)

Christmas Lights - Coldplay

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/20/2010 08:32:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Christmas is that time of year when we gather with our loved ones and surround ourselves with joy, great food, bad christmas sweaters, the weird cousin at the corner, presents, Christmas lights...

However, we must remember that there are those out there who are sick, missing their loved ones, those in the hospital fighting for their lives, those whose family member just passed away, marriages that have fallen apart, those unable to keep ends meet and spend the Christmas working extra shifts, those in war stricken countries, the homeless, the orphans....

Here's a Music Monday dedication to anyone out there not having a joyful Christmas.. Just know that there is someone out there saying out a prayer out for you and carry you in their thoughts..

Those Christmas Lights
Light up the street
Down where the sea and city meet
May all your troubles soon be gone
Ohh Christmas Lights keep shining on

Fat Fighter Workout

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/12/2010 12:21:00 PM in | 0 comments

The Fat Fighter Workout is another routine that I have done via Zuzana and Freddy's Bodyrock.Tv fitness site.

I know I haven't been so diligent in posting my workout routines and results lately, but don't think that I have slacked in that department. Just updating my blog is the issue at hand, actually. Besides the workouts I do from the Bodyrock.tv site, I have also been at the gym doing 5 miles on the elliptical. Fun times!! (and I don't mean that sarcastically!)

Anyways, moving on to the Fat Fighter Workout, let me outline the routine..

Part 1
Pike Jump Squats
Strong Core Exercise
Plank Jump Push Ups

Part 2
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Left)
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Right)
Elbow Plank Hops

Part 1 is done in 3 rounds before you move on to Part 2. Each exercise move is done for 30 seconds and try to achieve maximum reps each time with a 10 second rest in between.

My results:

5 December 2010

Part 1
Pike Jump Squats - 9, 6, 6
Strong Core Exercise - 11, 12, 11
Plank Jump Push Ups - 5, 6, 5

Part 2
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Left) - 15, 10, 12
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Right) - 15, 11, 11
Elbow Plank Hops - 13, 15, 16

7 December 2010

Part 1
Pike Jump Squats - 10, 7, 8
Strong Core Exercise - 12, 10, 9
Plank Jump Push Ups - 6, 5, 4

Part 2
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Left) - 16, 10, 13
Side Lunge Jump Oblique Twist (Right) - 17, 15, 14
Elbow Plank Hops - 30, 10, 20

Wanna try it out? Once you do, trust me, you don't even need to take cla tonalin diet pills anymore. Check out the tutorial below:

Desktop or Laptop?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/12/2010 12:02:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

I don't know many people nowadays who still are using a desktop computer -- unless they are involved in doing heavy workload such as graphic designing, advertising, computer programming, etc.

I mean for ordinary stay-at-home moms like me who blog, we don't need such a high end desktop computer. Personally, a laptop would suffice. I've had my laptop since Christmas of 2007, as a gift from my husband and I can't be happier with it. I'm glad that it's still running well and the space and speed is still sufficient for an ordinary blogger like myself.

However, if you are looking for a really good desktop computer, either for home or office use, you might want to read the extensive desktop computer reviews here!

Time To Bow Out

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/12/2010 10:13:00 AM in ,,| 0 comments

My son will probably be acting as one of the ushers for the night of my brother's wedding reception and I was told that I need to get him a full suit - blazer, vest, pants, white shirt.. you get the drift, don't you?

So yesterday I went in search for the perfect suit for him and I came across the store Wonder Tots at Empire Shopping Gallery, that caters for formal wear for children. They had a pretty decent selection and if you purchase the full suit - jacket, vest and pants, they will throw in a white shirt and a bow tie for free. It ranges between RM219.90 - RM249.90, which I feel isn't bad at all.

I haven't seen the selection of bow ties yet, but I'm hoping there are some really cool ones. I found some online that had pretty solid colored ones as well as patterned ones.

But before that, I am definitely going to practice how to tie a bow tie over and over until I get it right!

Low On Funds

12 days of December has gone by and Christmas is getting closer and closer. I haven't finished my Christmas shopping yet and this time, I have to be on a budget. As much as I'd like to splurge, I just simply can't afford to right now, what with my brother's wedding coming up. I have to save up for then, too. We haven't gotten our outfits tailored yet..

Anyways, my best friend suggested that I become a part time insurance agent since you still get a basic pay and can earn commission through sales. If I were any good at selling term life insurance, I might give it a second thought. Besides, did you know that most people avoid insurance agents like a plague? LOL! I don't wanna to be alienated by my friends and family, thankyouverymuch! :P

What's Your Christmas Wishlist?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/09/2010 12:02:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Christmas is less than 20 days away.. have you all set up your Christmas wish list already?? I don't have anything I really want actually.. Nothing solid, like ones that you can box up and wrap. I don't need a rackmount computer or anything like that. I have been looking around for art work to fill my home with.. I especially love oil paintings but then those can get pretty expensive.

Besides, I'd rather pick out artworks myself. So other than artworks, I'd love to go on a vacation right now with the whole family. I'm so jealous that David is in Florida.. I wish I could bring the kids there one day.. Closest direct flight using MAS will be L.A.. so L.A. it MIGHT be. MIGHT. If I can scrounge around for extra  cash, that is. LOL!

But come to think of it.. I would really like me an iPad! Anyone kindhearted enough to get one for me?? LOL!

Desperately Catching Up

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/08/2010 10:01:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

Ever since the children left me to be with their grandma for a whole month, I have had nothing but extra time on my hands. I've been working out to get myself busy because I miss them too much and other than that, I've been catching up on my tv shows.. from Grey's Anatomy to Cougar Town to Desperate Housewives.

I've stopped watching Desperate Housewives since the middle of season 5 and I am now at the beginning of season 6. I just gotta say, though, that there are awfully a lot of deaths in the Wisteria Lane neighborhood. The only person happy there is the funeral parlor.. They get to plan a funeral every other day or something. LOL!

If I were to move to a new neighborhood, I'd definitely think twice about moving to a place where more people die of murders than heart attacks and so many crazy neighbors are walking around. Of course, it's just a tv show, but it sort of reminds me why I stopped watching mid season 5.. I got bored of the crazies.

Awesome College Dorm Room Decor

Posted by Shemah Sham | 12/03/2010 02:17:00 PM in ,,| 0 comments

I remember the day I got accepted into the college of my choice and how ecstatic I was. I was even more ecstatic to know that my best friend Ida, made it too! Then my dad had the idea of moving my sister from her college to mine! Oh man! We knew right then and there that we were going to have an awesome awesome time!

My father also bought me my first Twinhead laptop for getting into college. I wish I had found out about TheGoodLifeOnCampus.com back then because they have the COOLEST Laptop and iPod skins!

There are so many things that I saw on the site that I just wished I had back then. There is nothing more funner (except for college parties) than decorating your own place.

At my college, they didn't have dorms, but they had student houses. Ours was a double-storey link house and I shared the middle room (which was pretty big) with my sister. While my best friend got the master bedroom with 2 other roomies!

Needless to say we had an awesome time decorating our house with posters and prints! If YOU are a college student looking for awesome college decorations, you might want to check out TheGoodLifeOnCampus.com! They have an array of super cool stuff, like lightings, clocks and even kitchen and bath stuff that will definitely turn your dorm room from zero to hero!

They have these wall decor, decals and more that I think is amazing! You know, I might even get some for my son's room, actually. As we were browsing the site, he pointed out a couple out to me that passed his "cool meter". They're also PVC-free products too! The best thing is, it doesn't matter whether you're a computer geek, an artsy fartsy or a grungy emo student. They have a lot of range of stuff that you just HAVE to check out!

TheGoodLifeOnCampus.com is also offering a 20% discount on orders using the promo code: "greatgifts". They are also giving out free shipping on orders above $50 within the U.S.

Looks to me like Christmas shopping made easy!!
