Shop Smart With Online Coupons

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/26/2010 10:34:00 AM in | 0 comments

I know that in this economy, we try our hardest to stretch our dollar to the max and making sure we get our money's worth. I don't know about you guys, but nowadays, I try to get the best bargain buys that I could even if it means shopping for things online.

However, for those of you who do find it easier to shop online (trying to save on petrol or don't want to get stuck in the jam), remember that you can always find great online coupons. For instance, if you go to EBillMe.com, they offer a lot of online coupons and discounts that you can use at stores like Sears, K Mart, Smarthome, Golf World, etc.

So, remember, you don't have to necessarily stop shopping just because the economy is bad, you just have to start being a smart shopper!

If I were a billionaire:

  • I'd buy my dream house.
  • I'd contribute a chunk of my money to charities and community service.
  • I'd buy another dream house at my dream city. (LOL!)
  • I'd go on a vacation to every city.. every 2 months.
  • I'd be making more and more wishlists.... after all, there can never be enough stuff..
What about you? What would you do if you were a billionaire?

Friday Fill-ins: A bit late, but oh well..

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/14/2010 11:20:00 AM in | 0 comments

And...here we go!

1. Music definitely gets me motivated to keep on exercising.

2. A hug and kiss from my children and husband is what I like first thing in the morning.

3. The first thing I said this morning was: "What time is it??"

4. Hopefully, an array of food at Jongker's Street (Melaka); it's what's for dinner tonight.

5. It's all been a bit hazy.. but I think the dream I had last night was one of the best I had in a while.

6. Checking out some online schools that accepts a January intake for my course choice is what I feel like doing right now.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to celebrating Friday the 13th by watching Paranormal Activity, tomorrow my plans include making a day trip to Melaka with my family and Sunday, I want to sleep, sleep and sleep!

What Does Wheatgrass Juice Do?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/13/2010 08:55:00 AM in | 0 comments

Remember just a couple of days ago, that I blogged about how tired I was of being tired?? Well, I got my wish, alright. People always say always be careful of what you wish for and in this case, I wasn't careful. I was careless as all get out!

On Wednesday morning, I was feeling so tired and lethargic that after a long night's sleep, I still can't muster enough energy to stay awake and took another 2 hour midday nap. The problem is, AFTER the said nap, I haven't been able to sleep. It is now 1.29am Friday morning, and I have only managed to sleep for 2 hours. A couple of hours ago, around 9.30pm, I finally felt exhausted enough to go to sleep and I was welcoming a good 8-9 hour rest. However, it turned out that by 11.20pm, I was wide awake, feeling refreshed and energized. Bill and FoongPC, claim that I have broken body clock!! Hahaha.. and I must agree with them on this one.

ANYWAYS, getting to the point, besides fasting, the only change in my dietary menu is, wheatgrass juice. When my mom was here last weekend, she brought with her some canned drinks -- wheatgrass, to be precise. I've been taking it at night (for detox purposes) and I'm beginning to think, that this wheatgrass is the reason why I'm super hyper despite not getting enough sleep in 36 hours.

I checked out to see what is it that wheatgrass actually does for you and this is what I found out.

The high chlorophyll content of wheatgrass juice causes increased Haemoglobin production in the body which increases the oxygen carrying capabilities of the blood. The increased capability of the blood to carry oxygen has a number of health benefits including purification of the blood, improving blood sugar disorders, helping combat toxins such as carbon monoxide and other traffic pollutants, cigarette smoke and heavy metals that can get into the blood.

The brain and other tissues function best when they are in a highly oxygenated environment.

Wheatgrass juice’s high vitamin content is of benefit to some skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and also helps give healthy looking hair. Wheatgrass is also said to benefit dandruff problems.

Many people cite wheatgrass juice as having cancer preventing properties due to it’s carcinogen and toxin neutralising abilities.

Other wheatgrass benefits include:
  • Improved digestion
  • Reducing blood pressure
  • Improved ability of the body to heal wounds
  • Chlorophyll found in wheatgrass can prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
  • Helping prevent tooth decay
  • Has anti-ageing abilities and can keep the hair from greying.

So none of the above said it's an energy booster of sorts... so who can explain my condition? Anyone?

Regency Beauty Institute

One of my girlfriends is currently creating an online makeup tutorial that I think is just fabulous! She's always been a natural at applying makeup and I'm always amazed at how immaculate her makeup is and also the variety of makeup styles that she can come up with. Her makeup palette consists of many wonderful colors -- colors that I don't even dare to have in my makeup bag.

I've always envied people who were good at makeup. I've undergone some makeup training with Lancome once, but I still don't think I'm any close to being GOOD at it. Once upon a time, I've even contemplated going to a beauty school like Regency Beauty Institute. Crazy, but true. If only they had a branch in Malaysia, I think I might just enroll myself.

Unfortunately for me though, they are only currently expanding in the United States, with the latest, being a beauty school in Wichita, Kansas. The esteemed beauty school also has placement relationships, from salons to cruise ships and runways for their graduates.

Tired of Being Tired

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/11/2010 12:59:00 AM in | 0 comments

These past few days prior to the month of Ramadhan (fasting month for the Muslims), I have been feeling a little bit tired  and somewhat lethargic. I'm always sleepy and even the daily house chores takes forever for me to do (normally it only takes me about an hour or two for basic home cleaning). However, today, it's taken me the whole day to do my chores.. and laundry isn't even included.

I am in serious need of some energy supplements, especially now, since today marks the first day of fasting. Without food or drinks to sustain me for the day, I hope that I'd still have a decent level of energy to go about doing my things. I have been taking wheatgrass juice recently for detox purposes, and I was hoping it would double as an energy drink (someone told me it gives you energy) but somehow, I'm not feeling the energy boost. But detox-wise, it works just fine! :)

I know that Vitamin B12 is a good source of energy, but it has tremendous side effects on me. It makes my appetite DOUBLE! That's one reason I've been avoiding taking any Vitamin B12 tablets. I guess the solution is, that I have to incorporate more energy foods in my diet, like bananas and raspberries or almonds and walnuts, if I want to get my energy level back to a high.. because I really need to get my balance back. My spirits are soaring high, but my energy is at an all time low..

If you have any other suggestions that don't require consumption (type of exercise, etc), do let me know!

Classically Cozy

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/10/2010 12:40:00 AM in | 0 comments

Having my mom here this past weekend, we discussed quite a bit about redecorating our homes. We both have similar tastes in furniture and so it was great to share opinions on that. I'm not into modern furniture, which is why, most showrooms nowadays, don't appeal to me much. Sure, they're great at conserving space but I love classic cozy furniture like this..

Someone once labeled me on Facebook, that I am "most likely to shop at Pottery Barn". And you know what, they are absolutely right! I would loooove to get my furniture from PB. Too bad they don't have Pottery Barn here. :( Realistically though, living in a cramped unit cries out for modern furniture, so I am thinking I really need to get my dream home PRONTO! :)

Gold Coin Collections

When I was a little girl, I saw my parents' collection of stamps and thought that it would be really cool if I could start collecting something that I could show to my children and have it be something of real value. My brothers at that time collected baseball cards and while I didn't think that collecting Barbies would get me anywhere, so I asked my dad if I could collect gold coins instead.

However, my late father, bless his soul, discouraged me from doing so because he said it's really rare and it's an expensive hobby. The chances of finding a rare gold coin are really slim unless I want to purchase any. I knew he was right.. but seeing the price of gold skyrocketing high nowadays, I wish I had my very own gold coin collection to safeguard my family in case of any financial problems. Oh well..

However, if you are planning to start a gold coin collection, you might want to check out this video:

Comparing Auto Insurance

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/05/2010 11:35:00 PM in | 0 comments

There are just so many types of insurance out there that it'll take me a day and half (if not longer) to list out all the types of insurance available to us. I know the mere mention of insurance gets people running the other direction. However, the insurance that almost every person needs is auto insurance -- if you're driving and you own a car. Which is like two-thirds of the world's population?

When you purchase a car, normally the car agent will handle everything from the loan application to the auto insurance. Yet, as a car owner, you shouldn't be too reliant on everything the car agent says or does. You might want to look into which auto insurance company you'll be insured with, the coverage terms, payment terms and so forth.. After doing so, then it might be wise to make some auto insurance comparisons before making the commitment.

Below is a great video guide to help you know what you should be looking for.

In the ins compare video above, they basically outline the important factors when making auto insurance comparisons.
  • Financial stability of the company - make sure that your insurance company will be able to do their part when you make your claim.
  • Customer service - Good customer service when handling customers questions or complaints. A definite must.
  • Price - Of course, auto insurance companies will have very competitive prices, so you might want to check out which deal is the best for you.
So where do you begin? Do you pick up the phone and call each and every company asking for their terms and payment quotations? Of course not.. That's what sites like OnlineAutoInsurance.com is for. They help compare quotes side-by-side and allows consumers to quickly pinpoint the insurers that offer cheap auto insurance rates for the coverage desired. For more info, you might want to check out the car coverage comparison guide

With so many things to consider, no wonder I don't drive nor own a car!

Car Donations for War Veterans

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." - President and Lieutenant John F. Kennedy, Purple Heart Recipient

In 2009, The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs has been working rigorously on a plan to launch a program to prevent veteran homelessness. Yes, believe it or not, almost 200, 000 war veterans are sleeping on the streets tonight. According to reports recently released, 1 out of 4 homeless people consist of war veterans.

Many war veterans who suffer from post traumatic stress or injuries and disabilities from war also find it very hard to find jobs, therefore losing their home and life savings in the process. You will be very surprised to see how many homeless men and women carrying Purple Hearts. It's heartbreaking.

One war veteran claimed that after being discharged from the military, it was hard for him to find any work at all because after the war ended, it coincided with a rather bad economic downturn. Most companies or factories were in fact retrenching  their employees and not at all taking in new employees. It was also hard to find  a job because he didn't have an apartment and he didn't have an apartment because he had no job. When his money ran out, he had to resort to taking shelter at a shelter run for U.S. Vets.

If you want to do your part and help out the men and women who are risking their lives fighting for your country, you might want to check out purple heart car donation charity.

The funds raised from your generous car donation will be used to provide food, shelter and clothing to Purple Heart Veterans and Disabled American Veterans, as well as to all men and women who have so courageously served our country. So citizens of the United States of America, please check out more on the car donation charities by clicking on any of the links above. You might not receive a Purple Heart for it, but it will show how big of a heart you have!

Gift Ideas for Your Friends

Posted by Shemah Sham | 8/02/2010 11:01:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

I've always loved receiving personalized gifts.. (what little I've been given)... and I love giving away personalized gifts. There's just no going wrong with them. From personalized t-shirts, personalized shot glasses, personalized pens.. well, you catch my drift, anything personalized makes a pretty awesome gift.

However, if you're in a time crunch, and don't seem to have the time to get a personalized gift, you might want to consider humor gifts, such as humor posters or humor tshirts. There are sooooooo many to choose from that I'm sure that you'll end up getting one for yourself as well and not only for your friend.

With so many sites out there offering services, like Cafepress for instance, we consumers are just spoilt for choice. I personally love all the internet geek humor t-shirts just because all my online buddies are total internet geeks!

Trust me, your geeky friends will love you eternally for this. That is, if you can tear them away from their laptops, iPads, phones, etc long enough to open their presents. If any of YOU were to buy any of the above for ME, I'll definitely be the "Live.Love.Laugh (then go tweet about it)" t-shirt! Just for future reference! :D
