Caffeinated Candies for Added Energy!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 12:41:00 PM in ,,| 0 comments

So last night I tried to pull an all-nighter to get some work done but it was just too hard for me. It's been a while since I last tried to stay up and sadly, I just couldn't do it. Coffee doesn't really work for me, but caffeinated candies on the other hand, might just do the job. I did feature a Caffeinated Blood Energy Drink but my friend Monica was a bit grossed out by that! LOL! So why not try candies like the Javapop and Buzzbites!

The Javapop is a caffeinated lollipop which is extra large and loaded with 60mg of caffeine. (WOWZAAA!!) Meanwhile the little wooden stick can be used to swizzle your Javapop in some liquid coffee - for even more sweet pep! Now if THAT's not gonna keep me awake I don't know what will! Sold in 10 packs - each 10 pack contains 2 of each of the following flavors: French Vanilla, Chocolate Almond, Irish Crème, Cappuccino, and Chocolate Raspberry.

Oh wait.. maybe Buzzbites will work! These Buzzbites are caffeine laden candies and  1 Buzz bite chew has as much caffeine as 1.25 Red Bulls or 3 cans of coke. Wowzers!! Each tin contains six smooth tasting chocolate chews and each individually wrapped chew contains a powerful blend of caffeine, ginseng, taurine, and five B vitamins. 100 milligrams of caffeine to be exactly.

The Javapops retail for $9.99 while Buzzbites cost between $3.99-$10.99.

Note: These candies are NOT for children and not recommendable for expectant mothers.. these candies are a far cry from the best prenatal vitamins, so don't even think about having some!

Vitamins for Expecting Mothers

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 12:17:00 PM in | 0 comments

Nowadays, I notice that more pregnant women are really more active and outgoing compared to generations ago when I saw my aunts and family friends who were pregnant. Granted, I was still a wee kid back then, but it seemed like they were always huffing and puffing and moving really slowly.. Also, the process of giving birth is almost always a looong labor and  even the recovery period seems longer.

Is it because of today's technology? I honestly don't think so.. because the birthing process is still the same ever since the days of Adam and Eve.

However what I do think has changed is the diet and knowledge that expecting mothers have now compared to the olden days. Now there are all sorts of prenatal vitamins around. I think these vitamins play a really important role for pregnant mommies nowadays. So to all expectant moms out there, make sure you take care of your diet and get your prenatal supplements from your ob-gyn.

Free Insurance Quotes & Alarm Clock

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 12:02:00 PM in | 0 comments

Yesterday, we were approached by this insurance agent who wanted to give us free insurance quotes and the funny thing is, just to get us to stop and talk to him, he was pulling out all the stops including giving us a free alarm clock. Now, an alarm clock is something I can definitely use since I don't even own one. I just use my phone's alarm if I need to. Anyways, it was quite a cool clock, nothing like the Dharma Initiative Alarm Clock though, but cool nonetheless. So after giving him our time and listening to him gab on about insurance, we went home and realized that we still need batteries for our alarm clock! Blerggh..

Do You Have Water Retention?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 11:57:00 AM in | 0 comments

My sister has been complaining about some major water retention problems and I found this site that was really helpful with water retention problems. The site has also mentioned that you can mistake water retention with flabbiness and being overweight.. Now THAT's a thought!

However, whatever it is, I always believe in colon-cleansing to detox my body, and right now, I'm gonna find me some good  colon cleansing products and see how that works first.. If I still have that feeling of bloatedness, then I'll check out the home remedies for water retention!

Fashionable Rain Boots

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 11:41:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

The weather here in Malaysia is so unpredictable that sometimes going out of the house can be such an annoying chore. I don't know when I can ever wear my suede Zara shoes because I never know when it's going to rain. Even the thought of carrying a couple of rain boots in the car for the kids and I.. well, it's not so appealing because the rain boots are very "Pua Chu Kang".

However, I did find some really fashionable kamik rain boots that I don't mind lugging AND wearing just in case it decides to rain. At least I can keep my feet and jeans dry and when I reach my destination.. voila! I can pull out my suede Zara shoes!! Woohoo! Look stylish in and out of the rain!

They're so cute! I like! Oh and the prices range from $39.95 - $59.95!

Oldilocks!!

I mentioned on my personal blog that I think I pulled a muscle from lifting a heavy bucket of water while I was mopping the floor.. it's still hurting so I decided to get another dose of painkiller. I took the last dose about 6 hours ago.. but when I was digging through the medicine cabinet, I finally found the joint
supplement
I was looking for.

I really hope that it will work because I'm not too keen on taking painkillers and rather take supplements.. yet at the same time I don't know how effective it will be to combat the pain.

And my posture isn't helping one bit either. Just gonna have to cross my fingers and hope I fare better when I wake up later! I guess my birthday 2 weeks ago wasn't lying.. I AM getting OLD!

Blood Never Tasted So Good!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 04:01:00 AM in ,,| 0 comments

It's 3.42 am and I'm still online. I'm dead tired and damn sleepy but I've got too many things to do right now with a tight deadline. So right now, I am banking on Lipton Rooibos Red Tea and Kings of Leon to keep me awake.

I keep on washing my face.. (no, not with an acne face wash -- just plain water).. in hopes that I won't be too sleepy. But it STILL ain't working.

I really need either those energy potion drinks I wrote about before, or perhaps something more drastic like this Blood Caffeinated Energy Potion! Retails between $4.99 - $15.99.

  • A great (and gross) energy potion - with the same color, nutrients, and consistency of real blood.
  • Comes in a resealable, transfusion-style blood bag.
  • Yummy fruit punch flavor.
  • Caffeine: 80mg per bag
  • Energy Blend Includes: Iron, protein, and electrolytes.
  • Blood Type: D (for delicious)!
  • Unit Volume: 3.4 fl oz (100ml)
Yep.. I think this will definitely keep me awake!

More Car Blues

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/30/2010 03:34:00 AM in ,,| 0 comments

This afternoon the husband and I dropped by Proton Edar to get our new car fixed. We finally got the car for a week before there were some signs on the dashboard panel thingy (don't ask me what it's called.. I'm not a car person) that lit up when it wasn't supposed to.

So since it's a new model -- only been out for 2 months -- they need to do an extensive check-up that would require 2 days in the repair and service bay.. Such a bummer. Although I must say, the Proton Edar building is pretty snazzy and cool.. My son was really fascinated with the cool industrial handles he saw.

Anyways, I just hope we'll get the car back quick and it won't give any more problems. After a month going car-less (our car got stolen).. I'm not looking forward to being car-less again. But then again, it IS a PROTON. New model or not, it's still a Proton. *sigh*

Need Help with Long Distance Moving?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/29/2010 02:59:00 PM in | 0 comments

I've always hated to pack. Whether it's for a short overnight trip or a long vacation trip, I just hate packing. So you can imagine how much I can't stand the thought of MOVING. Recently, I had the ultimate huge nightmare job of having to help my mom with long distance moving.

Since packing is not my forte, I decided to enlist the help of professional movers who will wrap and pack every single item and also conduct the moving and storage for me as well. So basically I didn't have to lift a finger, except to point which things were to be thrown away and which ones my mom wanted to keep.

The local service I used was really professional and efficient! However, if you're in the US and looking out for professional movers, I heard that SmartBoxUSA.com are the experts!

Best Housewarming Gifts

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/25/2010 02:01:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Whether it's moving into the first home or moving to another home, housewarming parties are always fun. You get to see your friend's new abode and also you'll be inspired to redo your home, or even finally get a house of your own. Also, it's always a blast when the host opens the housewarming gifts.

The best housewarming gifts are definitely the gifts that the host can put to good use. What you want to think of when buying a housewarming gift, is the practicality of the gift as well as the fun factor in it. For example, If your friend is a great entertainer, check out these cool cube trays and ice stirrers that are inexpensive but really cool!

If your friend loves to cook, a gift like this Demy Touchscreen Recipe Reader is awesome too. It does cost a whopping $289.99 at Amazon.

If the housewarming party is for a bachelor, then maybe something fun and useful like this drink dispenser would be a great gift. It only costs $39.99 and you can purchase it at After 5.

Candles, photo frames, book ends or even a bouquet of flowers in a vase can never go wrong as well... unless of course you can count out the flowers if your friend is allergic to 'em.

If you're thinking of getting your friend a pet, this wall mounted fish bowl aquarium would be a splendid gift!

I saw online that a group of friends pooled some money, got a big nice rubbish bin with a big bow on it. Inside, they filled it with all sorts of small gifts, a clock, cutlery set, floor mats, table mats, toiletries, and other basic necessities that is very useful for a new home. Needless to say, the hosts loved it and they were able to use everything! Even the rubbish bin!

MM: Ocean Size Love - Leigh Nash

I was going through my iTunes and found this song by Leigh Nash (vocalist of Sixpence None The Richer) that I haven't heard for a while.. and remembered how much I loved it the first time I heard it.

I hope you guys like it as much as I do! Have a great Music Monday.. hope your week kicks off just right!

Ring It Up!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/22/2010 01:45:00 AM in | 0 comments

A couple of friends of mine are getting married this month. I was invited to two weddings and yet unable to attend any, due to the fact that these weddings are going to be held at my hometown -- thousands of miles away.

I saw a couple of pre-wedding pictures on Facebook and it got me all excited about weddings and was thinking about when my next brother or sister will get hitched next. So I decided to go browsing through sites of wedding related stuff, when I landed on jewelry site that featured engagement rings and designer jewelry.

By now, I'm no longer even thinking of my siblings' upcoming weddings (if any) but my own upcoming  10th anniversary. Maybe I'm lucky enough that my husband will get me a diamond ring to mark our anniversary. It's not like he's been out and about buying jewelry for me these past 7 years anyways.. LOL!

I'd settle for a solitaire princess cut diamond Tacori ring. I don't fancy cluster rings anyways. One gorgeous diamond set on a platinum band does it for me. I'm a simple personality and a simple gorgeous ring is all I ask for. Besides, diamonds are a GREAT investment! Is that asking for too much? Hmm.. I guess it is.. but a girl can always dream, right? ;)

Poker Face

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/21/2010 11:52:00 PM in | 0 comments

Poker Face means a face lacking any interpretable expression, and can also be explained as a deliberate attempt to disguise one's emotions, such as when playing poker. As you know, in poker, one does not want others to know if one is holding a good or bad hand, hence the need for a blank expression.

Personally, my face betrays my emotion so easily, that people who know me, easily beat me at poker because the moment I TRY to pull a poker  face, that's when they know I'm winning. LOL! I really suck. Big time!

However, with WSOP, I might actually be able to change that. There are online poker lessons that are available on WSOP as well as rules on how to play the game (if you didn't know, already) as well as poker strategy. Going through the basic tips of playing poker, I totally screwed up the basic rule of all -- letting your emotions get the best of you at the table. Never let this happen, ever! It does not matter if you are playing an annoying opponent, if you lose a session, or if you are dealt a bad hand; do not let your emotions get in the way of concentrating on playing the game.

I think I'll read up more on poker, so that the next time I go back to my hometown and have a friendly game of poker with my siblings, I won't be beaten so badly at it!!

The Ultimate Dream Getaway

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/21/2010 11:26:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Dream vacation.. dream getaway.. same thing, right? Well, not for me. For me, a vacation is me taking a long break with the family to an overseas destination (preferably some place I've never been) and immerse ourselves in activities and plans that the whole family will enjoy. As for a getaway, that means me taking a break with the husband - sans children - and go for a short trip (preferably a local destination) for just a couple of days.

So see, there is a difference!

Anyways, MY ULTIMATE DREAM GETAWAY, would have to be a 3 night stay at the Pangkor Laut Resort. It has been listed as One of the World's Top Ten Beaches in Ultratravel - UK's Daily Telegraph luxury magazine.

I wonder if I can take one of those Payday Loans to finance a getaway like this. After all not only are Payday Loans the fastest means of getting cash, they are also small loans that won't affect your repayments so drastically. Usually, the loan amounts are as little as $100 but you can also borrow up to $1000.

However, I don't think getting a payday loan for a getaway is the right idea.. Normally, people get payday loans to pay urgent bills so that they don't have to pay the extra interest, or for emergency purposes like getting a car fixed, or like the case of my husband, to pay the deposit on a new car (ours got stolen).

Besides, by the looks of this resort, maybe $1000 might not even be enough for a weekend getaway!

Promotional Items for Your Business

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/17/2010 05:44:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

The company my sister is working for requires her to use custom apparel on Saturdays (if she's required to work on the weekend). She did ask my opinion -- if I were a potential customer, whether the shirt she was wearing does or doesn't create brand awareness. My answer? It absolutely does!

The thing that most people don't realize is how logo merchandising and things like promotional items are a great and fast way to get their business recognized. If it wasn't, then shops won't even bother to make a standout headboard  sign for their shop and so on, right?

Whether it's apparel, pop-up tents, paper bags, boxes, writing instruments or car decals, all of those stated above are amazing strategies to get your business known to public. If you're planning to set up an event, another great way to share what your business offers are tradeshow items to giveaway.

Why do you think events like the MTV Music Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards are always filled with "goodie bags" a.k.a. tradeshow items?? Those items in those bags are the ticket to promoting what your brand and products are all about while reaching A-list clients. While it is possible to plan a show that offers no promotional items, these items are one of the most cost effective ways to add value to the attendee’s overall experience because people look forward to receiving these items.

Smart move, indeed! The best thing about going this route is, it's the most inexpensive advertising your company can ask for. It takes less than a dollar to print your logo on a promotional item. For even more smart moves, you can read more about business strategies to implement here.

Things To Do in Vegas That Don't Involve Gambling

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/17/2010 05:03:00 PM in ,,| 0 comments

Think Vegas, and what immediately pops into my mind?? FUN! A couple of years back, a family friend went to Vegas on a series of stops during their vacation in the U.S. and since they don't gamble, they found Vegas to be the least of their favorite destinations.

If I were in Vegas right now, I can think of already 10 amazing things at the top of my head that has nothing to do with casinos and gambling. And ELVIS impersonators. But then again, that's Vegas for you! Anyways, back to my point.. first of all, if you're into retail therapy (and who isn't??), Las Vegas shopping can pretty much beat the streets of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills!

The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace is a 560,000-square-foot shopping experience brings fantasy to life. High-end stores such as Kate Spade, Judith Leiber, and Coach coexist among such top-rated restaurants as Sushi Roku and Boa Steakhouse.

Even the recent Miss USA pageant that saw 24-year old Rima Fakih, an Arab-American from Michigan taking the coveted prize, was also held in the glitzy city of Las Vegas. Why not, right? Las Vegas beauty care is one of the countries finest.. and with such a prestigious pageant like Miss USA, I'm sure the Las Vegas salons are also one of the best!

Anyways, my point is, not everyone is a gambler and a trip to Vegas offers much more. My top ten things to do in Vegas (that doesn't involve gambling), are:

1) Shopping
2) Cirque Du Soleil at MGM Grand
3) Lance Burton Master Magician at the Monte Carlo Las Vegas for kid-friendly magic shows.
4) Madame Tussauds Interactive Wax Museum at The Venetian allows you to “interact” with your favorite celebrities
5) For adult and kid fun, visit the roller coasters at New York-New York, the Stratosphere Tower and Casino as well as the Adventuredome, a 5.5-acre indoor amusement park at Circus Circus Casino.
6) Wine and dine at The Bellagio -- with over 13 award winning restaurant to choose from, is there any other reason not to?
7) Extreme Skydiving at Las Vegas Extreme Skydiving in Jean, Nevada.
8) A stroll down "the Strip" a.k.a. Las Vegas Boulevard -- A couple of choice stops are at the Mirage for its signature volcano, which erupts every fifteen minutes in good weather, and at the Treasure Island for the epic pirate battle. The battle takes place every 90 minutes starting at 4 p.m. and although it's a brief showdown, it's a helluva fight.
9) Check out Barry Manilow, Bette Midler or Cher, perhaps??
10) The best $15.00 you will spend in Las Vegas ($10 for seniors 65+) is at the Liberace Museum!

So who says you need to gamble to have fun?? I wish I was able to tell our family friend about all these activities before they left!

Amazing Rugs

I'm the type of person who loves unique pieces in my home which is why, although I love going to IKEA to browse around looking for inspiration, my home is still pretty much devoid of IKEA  products. So if you don't want your home to contain pieces of home deco like every other house on the block, there are other places to look for furniture and home deco.. you can scour weekend bazaars, flea markets, garage sales and so forth..

Speaking of unique, check out these cool looking rugs:

These unique indoor and outdoor rugs below will be a great conversation piece with your guests.. definitely one of a kind!

Size Does Matter!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/16/2010 12:55:00 AM in | 0 comments

Nowadays, there's no such thing as an impossibility. Half a century ago, people were still adjusting to the color tv, and now you can even watch tv on the go, on your mobile or even on a watch!

Although I'm a couple of generations past the "launch of the color tv" era, I'm still one of those people who love movies and tv series so much so that I just can't be able to enjoy watching anything on such a small LCD screen.

Call me ignorant, dense, inexperienced.. but I still don't understand those who can watch movies on gadgets as small as a mobile phone or an iPod. Besides, if I'm on the go, how can I possibly even have time to want to watch something on my tech-gadget-device-thingy?

Even watching movies on my 15.4" laptop screen is still not that enjoyable.. I find that I can concentrate and immerse myself into the film much better on my 42" LCD HDTV. Sure.. I understand that not all people have TVs and you've just got to make do with what you have. But if you have a choice, don't you think that size does matter after all??

Picking Straws

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/16/2010 12:24:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

When it comes to my two children and drinks, I know for a fact that I'm going to face one helluva battle. My daughter wants my son's drink (even if it's the same) and vice-versa while at the same time not wanting to exchange glasses. I have no idea why they do that, but it drives me nuts!!

So, I figured there must be a solution to my problem and lo and behold -- ThinkGeek  has a solution!  I found the DIY Drinking Strawz that allows you to not only share your drinks via the connectors and straws, but you can also mix drinks AND share them at the same time.

The DIY Drinking Strawz comprises of 20 flexible rubber connectors and 24 translucent straw pieces (12 - 5" strawz and 12 - 2.875" strawz). Retails between $9.99 - $24.99.

So with that, you can create a concoction of drinks AND share them with your loved ones .. and in my case, settle my problems for good!!

However, if you want to just create a fun straw for the fun of it, by all means, go ahead and try it out. Just bear in mind that the larger the maze of straws you create and the more time it takes for your drinks to reach your mouth, doesn't mean it  helps you lose weight like those weight-loss drinks and! LOL!

There's a Glee Flashmob going on today, May 8th 2010, organized by the peepz at RandomAlphabets. My sister was so looking forward to this but she ended up having to work today. Bummer. Even if I didn't join, I'd love to just check it out! I looove GLEE!

Great Bridesmaids Gifts For Under $25

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/08/2010 10:39:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

I know that summer is a popular time to get married. Even a couple of my friends are getting married this month of May.

To all brides out there, if you think you're stressed, how do you think your bridesmaids feel? The bridal party is there to give general support and advice to the bride - calming her, helping with plans and sending her off into her new life and letting her know she’s loved.. They're the ones who will throw the bridal shower and the hen party and just to make your journey before marriage a fun and fulfilling time.

So what better way to reward them for their support than with these beautiful and awesome (not to mention inexpensive) bridesmaid gifts!

One gift that would be of absolute use, GUARANTEED, is the Bridemaids Survival Kit. Retailing at $19.95 the kit includes a folding brush and mirror, hair pins, earring backs, nail polish and emery board, mending kit, stain remover, double-sided tape, breath freshener, handkerchief, pain reliever, adhesive bandages, deodorant and more.. to make sure any mishaps during the big day will be covered!

These Triple Strand Heart bracelets make a beautiful gift as well. Retails at $24.95.

The Glitter Galore Photo Keepsake box also makes a great gift and might even tug the heartstrings of your bridesmaids with the photo of both of you on it. The pink glitter box retails for $14.99 while the clear bling costs $24.95

Actually, if you have a higher budget to splurge on, you can even get your bridesmaids the Triple Strand Heart bracelets and keep them in the Glitter Photo Keepsake box.. That would be perfect as well!

For more ideas on bridemaids gifts under $25, check out the link!

I've talked about my dream home before, and how I wanted the interior to look like. But one thing's for sure, the one feature I want at home is my very own home theater. You might know about my love for movies, and it's only reasonable that I dedicate a section in my home for entertainment purposes.

I'd want top of the line home theater seatings and I'd have customized cashmere blankets rolled up on each chair. That is of course if I suddenly became rich as all get out..

Even if I don't, (get rich as all get out, I mean) well, I'll just settle for an awesome home theater system with great surround sound and seats. That works for me, too!

The Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster which was launched in Universal Studios Singapore is said to be the World's Tallest dual rollercoaster.

Universal Studios roller coaster shut down (Source:
Reuters)
The Battlestar Gallactica features the Battlestar Galactica: Cylon, which is the blue inverted track and the Battlestar Galactica: Human, which is the red rail. Both rides separately last around 90 seconds, which is the only drawback of the ride – making it seem too quick.

The Human red track propels the rider seemingly into the skies and the near-miss with the Cylon blue track just adds to the thrill. The Cylon ride appears to have an edge. The seats are suspended below the rail, leaving the riders’ legs to dangle and tussle in mid-air. The Cylon ride goes through several scintillating inversions and plunges into artificial fogs with near-misses with the ground too. The finale does not disappoint either, with the illusion of a near miss! [source]
However, Universal Studios Singapore has shut down the world's tallest duelling rollercoaster, because of a technical problem, a mere week after the theme park opened.

"The ride may be closed for several days or longer to perform a complete analysis. We understand some guests may be disappointed; however, the safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority," the park said in a statement.

As of April 27th, 2010, the ride is still closed, and the park released a statement that they cannot speculate as to when the ride will reopen. I've got an aversion to heights but I think rollercoasters are amaaazing! I planned a May trip to Singapore with my gal pals but the plan fell through and we have to postpone it to another time. I hope by then the BSG ride will be open soon. But I'm gonna make sure I have a disability insurance.. just in case.

I stumbled upon this article today about a shoplifter who stole a very expensive X-Men comic book from a store but was caught by the owner, who was garbed in a Spiderman costume suit. He called out for people to help block the exits and it just so happens that well, those people were in Jedi Knight costumes. Pretty hilarious!

45-year-old comic store owner Michael Baulderstone was dressed as Spider-Man on Free Comic Book Day when he noticed a customer put an expensive X-Men Omnibus in his backpack.

“One of the funniest things about the incident was that I called for people to stand near the door and it just so happened we had people dressed as Jedi knights there blocking the exit, the Flash was there at some point too,” Mr Baulderstone told the Courier Mail. “Everyone in the store thought it was a play, that it was street theatre of some sort. It wasn’t until I said 'Call the police' that people started to realize.”
This situation really made me think of how businesses like these comic book stores are insured. To my knowledge, comic books are a really good investment. (So don't think that geeks are losers who spend all their time in the comic book stores). For all you know, they might be the richest person on the block. Take the first edition of the famed Marvel superhero, Spiderman, for instance. The first ever issue sold for 12 cents back in 1963, and is now worth over $40,000!

So if you want to set up your own comic store, first thing you need to consider is getting insurance coverage for your comics. I'm not sure whether the policies cover a whole lot of collectibles or it covers each single issue. I don't know if that's possible, but if you're in California, you can always give the California Department of Insurance a call to check it out.

Like in Mr. Baulderstone's example, if that person did manage to get away with that X-Men Omnibus, will it be covered by the insurance? I'm not sure if that's covered under the California business insurance, however you can always contact your insurance agent and ask for specific coverage and business insurance quotes for collectibles in case of fire or theft.

Getting insured is a must for all businesses. Penny wise, pound foolish they say. Lucky for Mr. Baulderstone, he saw what happened and acted fast. Check out the video of him nabbing the thief:

World's Most Expensive Gameboy

Posted by Shemah Sham | 5/06/2010 11:15:00 PM in ,,| 0 comments

I was mentioning a couple of posts ago at my personal blog, that gold has proved to be a successful method of preserving value when national currency fails. Your money is usually safe in gold as it will be backed by something physical and solid not just paper. Today, the beauty of a gold bar lies in its proven ability to diversify investments, protect wealth and preserve one’s purchasing power. So there's no time like now to go ahead and buy gold bullion.

Even nowadays, gadgets are also created with gold. Just take a look at the World's Most Expensive Hand-held video game - the Gameboy.

It’s made of 18 K gold and the display screen is surrounded by diamonds. This high-end gaming platform is available through Swiss Supply and created by Aspreys Of London.

This baby costs a whopping $ 25,000! Includes case, a couple of games and cable (hmph! you don't say!!) I knew investing in gold was a good thing, but investing in this?? I'm not so sure

5 Top Gift Ideas for Mother's Day!

So Mother's Day is coming up in less than a week.. so have you all thought of gifts for her yet? Personally, I haven't yet bought anything for my mom and I was planning to get something for her and ship it back to my hometown in time for Mother's Day. But since our car got stolen last week, I haven't been able to get any shopping done whatsoever. So I just hope to call our florist back home and order some flowers for her.

Anyways, if you don't have anything in mind yet? Here are a couple of cool things to get your Mom..

For the "Gadget Mom" - The SmartShopper is the top pick for me.. because it's a great gadget that features 2,500 preloaded grocery and household items, school and office supplies. The customizable library lets you add your favorite items, brands or items it doesn't recognize. The SmartShopper also has an errand-tracker feature that records and organizes all your chores and to-do's, like going to the bank, dry cleaners, car wash, pharmacy and more. Includes a magnet, mounting hardware and one roll of paper - for only $79.95!

For the "Crafty Mom" - The Crafty Mom loves creating personalized items. I know personalized pillows like those above would just keep you close to her heart.. You can also opt to give her a personalized something of your own by making your own crafts FOR her..  You can get all sorts of supplies for card making and scrapbooking from online stores like Crafty Heart! I looove the craft supplies there!! Plus, they're really cheap too!

For the "Gardening Mom" - So your mom LOVES gardening, right? But you don't want her to get in the sun or tire herself out with watering the plants.. so why not get her the mini Baby Grobal?? This mini-sized Grobal keeps your house plants lush, green, and looking sharp all for under $13. Just featured in Everyday with Rachael Ray, Grobal draws water and nutrients from the reservoir into the Grobal Soil in the top chamber. Just check the water level through the water level indicator.

For the "Stylish Mom" - Every stylish mom can never do with too many accessories! From cashmere pashmina wraps to personalized birthstone jewelries, there's always something out there for the stylish mom. Even these Make Love Not Trash recycling shopping bags are really awesome for the fashionista mom!

For the "Working Mom" - Do you think only kids need lunch boxes? Moms need them too.. although I know my mom won't be caught dead bringing my old My Little Pony lunch box to work! So you can always get her this Built NY Gourmet Tote! This bag is made of neoprene, the material for wet suits, which will keep food insulated for several hours! It can be used as a lunch bag, but it also doubles as a small weekender, or even as an everyday bag! Has a zip top and interior pocket for items such as cell phones, wallets or keys. Stain resistant & machine washable.

But whatever it is, whether it's expensive or inexpensive.. being a mother myself, I know that just a simple hug or an I love you is enough to make me happy on Mother's Day! :)
