Laser Scissors

I am definitely not on of those people who can write straight on a blank piece of paper or even cut a straight line. So when I saw the Laser Scissors, I definitely think it's pretty useful!

  • Adjustable Red Laser Sighting System
  • Range: Up to 1.5 meters for Super Long Cuts
  • High Quality Steel Blades
  • Blade Length: 80mm
  • Power Source: 2 x LR44 Battery included (replaceable)
  • Dimensions: 210mm x 26mm x 84mm (L x W x D)
  • Manufacturer Ref.: KG3ZT462VJW
  • Comfortable Grip
I'm sure my friend Debbie, who makes crafts as well as sell craft supplies at her Crafty Heart store, might find this useful! It retails at $19.99 but there are other sites online that sell it for a much cheaper price.

Hot 'n' Cold Electric Blanket

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/24/2010 09:23:00 AM in ,,| 0 comments

Yesterday, I was having a twitter conversation with my blogging buddies, Ane and Bill about them wanting to get out of the cold weather where they're living in, while I, on the other hand, am dying to escape from the heat.

That got me thinking last night as I threw my comforter (as far as possible away from me), if they can make an electric blanket, then they should make one that can be switched on from hot to cold so that it would be useful all year round, right?

Well, obviously, someone was already ahead of me in that idea department, because there IS actually an electric pad by LLC that does just that!

The heating of the sleeping pad can go between 21 - 35.5 degrees Celsius while the cooling down will be able to get all the way done to 0.5 degrees Celcius! Plus, it helps slash air conditioning bills in the summer as well as heating bills in the winter.

It might not be able to cool or heat an entire room, but it does provide for individual comfort all through the night, throughout the year! Retails at $200. You can head on over to CoolOrHeat.com if you'd like to purchase one!

License to Give!

There's nothing better than buying something you want when a portion of the sales go to charity. As consumers, well for me at least, we wouldn't mind purchasing something that also contributes to a good cause.

Nowadays, businesses around the world are making it a "practice" and now even businesses such as license plate purchases are supporting charity organizations. Private number plates purchased from Florida now benefits youth charities as well as major and regional sports events!

Not only will you be driving with a cool specialized license plate number, but you will also be doing a great deed and contributing to an absolutely great cause. You'll be cool, both ways!

So if you're looking to make a license plate purchase, you might want to check out this website.. perhaps they might be able to arrange something for other states as well.

Cool As Jazz

In my previous post, I featured this really cool ice jewel tray that can be part of your party supplies. However, if you find them too "girly" and looking for something more of a "macho stride" to it, then you might be interested in this cool guitar ice stirrer..

These retail at $7.95, and come in 3s - with different shaped guitars. This would really look awesome for those guys out there looking for a sophisticated yet cool touch at their party - WITHOUT making it look too girly. This set was also designed by Liz Dubois and can be purchased here.

Ice Cold Jewels!

When I saw this, I immediately thought of my sister Syura, who just loves to host and plan parties. This would be a great party supply for her to own, especially since she's just a stickler for details.

The Cool Jewels ice tray was designed by Liz Dubois from Christina Studios and retails for only $7.45! However, it only makes 6, so if you want to have a big party, you need more than a couple of trays to "spread your wealth" so to speak. If you want to purchase this, you can do so here! They accept PayPal too!

Scent-sational Idea!

Shelves of perfumesImage via Wikipedia

Most celebrities these days have come out with their own line of perfumes. From P. Diddy to Sarah Jessica Parker and recently, Beyonce released her perfume, Heat while Kim Kardashian released her perfume, Sephora.

If I had that much funding, I'll also hire my own research and development team so that I can also launch my own line of perfume or even cosmetics. Then, I'll put them in really gorgeous packaging that will attract the eye of every woman who sees it.

Cosmetic Packaging plays a really big role because personally, as a consumer, I am attracted to the packaging first before all else. Just ask my dear friend, Marzie, author of Mariuca's Perfume Gallery.. she has over 200 bottles of perfume in her collection and I'm sure that she loves pretty bottles of perfume as well!

Arminak-Associates.com specializes in cosmetic packaging that includes mist sprayers, jars, bottles, atomizers, pumps, tubes, bottles and much much more! If only I had the money that celebrities have, I'd create my own line of fragrance as well. Then I'll ask Marzie to be my Executive Director of Fragrance! LOL! After all, I'm pretty much allergic to scents..

Definitely not good for my health but the thought of creating my own line sounds so cool and fun!

What is Mesothelioma?

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/16/2010 09:49:00 AM in | 0 comments

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that affects the mesothelioma cells - which is basically the tissue that lines the lungs, heart and stomach. It's a terminal disease that affects patients between 55-75 years old. The primary cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos.

As we know, asbestos was often used in industrial settings because of its ability to resist heat, capacity to insulate, etc, and had a steady decline of usage during the 1980's. However, you should remember that older buildings were still constructed using asbestos.

The main occupations that are at high risk of exposure to asbestos include miners, plumbers, auto mechanics, construction workers, teachers and many more. As for the symptoms, many cases go undetected due to the nature of the symptoms being so similar to a normal flu. Coughing, weight loss, back pains, and shortness of breath are just a few of the symptoms of mesothelioma.

Mean Acne Ad

gelakguling That is just sooooooo mean.. but you've gotta admit it made you laugh, right? Although, I don't think that people suffering from acne would find that funny at all. I know how hard it is and how self-conscious people can be due to acne. So please excuse my ROTFLMAO emoticon.. Anyways, I stumbled upon this ad while I was over at LifeIsAJoke.com and they have hilarious stuff over there.

But anyhoo, because I feel so bad that I laughed, here's a site that's said to help alot! Check out http://www.topacnetreatment.org!

Again, I know I was being insensitive.. and I apologize.. I will say no more! diam

What To Expect When You're Expecting

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/15/2010 11:24:00 PM in | 0 comments

I have come to learn recently, that many of my friends or friends' wives are expecting their first child. Since I have 2 children of my own, many are asking me for advice. When I was expecting my first child, I got all advice from my mom. Well, who better, right? After all, she managed with all 5 of us.

When someone asked me what book I was reading to help me through my pregnancy, I ignorantly scoffed.. thinking that I don't need any self help books to help me! I've got my mom.. But boy, was I wrong. As you all may or may not know, pregnancies vary from one to another. There were a lot that I went through that my mom didn't go through at all. Plus, she had us 30 years ago, and times are different now. Even the food is different now.

Things were the same with my second child. Only through my last trimester did I come across the book, What To Expect When You're Expecting (4th Edition) by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. Sure, I've heard of it before.. but really.. I didn't know it was THAT good!

So if you're expecting - especially with your first - you might want to pick up this book!

It's a great guide that covers everything from backache to hemorrhoids. But make sure to ask your OB-GYN before you use a hemorrhoid cream.

So yeah, this book only retails for about $14.95 and RM56.90 at MPHbut you can get it cheaper on Amazon or Ebay or just somewhere else. Better yet, you can just go to the What To Expect website!

Spa Village Treatment

Massage in Frankfurt, GermanyImage via Wikipedia

At this very moment, I am really in need of a body massage! sighI feel so tired and my muscles are all tense-like.. I just need a really really good spa treatment.. So I did what I do best, and googled for some spa treatments around KL.

Then I stumbled into the Spa Village website, and of course, a luxury spa looks very tempting! There are many types of treatments for gentlemen and ladies as well as couples treatment. However, I've heard that the "Tun Teja" treatment is highly recommended..

TUN TEJA (LADIES)
• Urutan Kebayan (Ladies Traditional
Princess Massage)
• Lulur Cendana Cangi (Body Scrub)
• Siram Panca Cahaya (Royal Herbal Bath)
• Alin-Alin Puteri (Herbal Oil Application)
• Wap Cindai Berahi (Scented Body
Steaming)
• Santapan Junjung Puteri (Scented Roots
Drink)

Sounds great really.. But the price is equally great too.. This treatment will set you back some RM675 - 3 hours. I might actually consider going say, if they threw a colon and body cleanse treatment as well. gatai

I might as well go to Marzie's recommendation.. it only costs RM60 per hour! What do you think? Would you pay that much for a spa treatment? The couples treatment costs RM1200, just so you know. Maybe just maybe, I'll go for the Tun Teja treatment.. IF I hit the jackpot, that is! duitihikhik

Happy Chinese New Year 2010!!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/13/2010 02:56:00 PM in | 0 comments

Tomorrow, all the Chinese people worldwide would be celebrating Chinese New Year!! celebrate Living in a multi-racial country like Malaysia, everyone would be celebrating CNY too.. be it the Malays, the Indians and other indigenous groups alike! menari

Plus, Chinese New Year falls on Valentine's Day as well, so the town will literally be painted red!!

If I were back in my hometown, I would be out with the family visiting and celebrating with friends and just enjoy this prosperous occasion! But in a weird way, I am sort of glad that I won't be attending any Chinese New Year open houses this year because out of the blue, a HUGE zit decided to pop out on my face.. and there is absolutely NO time at all to get any acne cream.

But for all of my friends (online and offline) who are celebrating Chinese New Year, I wish you all the best this year, may your life be more prosperous and you have great health and wealth this year!!

because models lurrv de animales...Image by The Dirrty Vee via Flickr

One of my best girlfriends was recently seeking employment at a high fashion brand as the assistant store manager. She just went for the interview yesterday, and apparently things are looking pretty good, although we can't really say until they confirm her position.

Anyways, I'm really happy for her and we both find it hilarious that she's looking for a retail job at a high fashion store because she is a pretty frugal person and her previous job (also in retail) she was tempted to tell her customer that "some things are just not worth paying for". But of course, she didn't. gatai

However, it would be so fun to see her cringe when people churn out thousands just to buy a bag, or shoes or clothes. LOL! Now THAT would be a sight to behold.. Nevertheless, I told her that the pay would be great and my only advice for her is - in Tim Gunn's words, "make it work!". ihikhik

The Sleepyhead Gel

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/13/2010 01:34:00 AM in ,,| 0 comments

Ever wake up in the morning, took a shower and came out STILL feeling sleepy and tired, and by the time you reach work/class/sent your son to kindie, you look like you've been hit by a 5-tonne lorry? Well, I've been there and it's not the prettiest sight.

So, to my delight, my idols over at ThinkGeek.com are selling the Octane Energy Gel that helps with a pick me up just by applying the gel at the back of your neck and behind your ears.

What does it feel like, you ask? According to the ThinkGeek guys:
You'll feel Octane™ working in just 30 seconds as the formula takes effect. First you'll feel an intense but refreshing cooling sensation. This will last up to 30 minutes, depending on environmental conditions. But no matter what, it'll provide enough boost to get you over whatever you're doing at that moment! You'll immediately feel more alert. Because of its non greasy formula, you can apply Octane™ as frequently as you want.
Other specs include:
  • Removes Excess Sweat & Oil
  • Non Irritating Formula
  • Herbal Extracts
  • Non-Greasy
  • Moisturizes
  • PH Balanced
There you go peepz.. You don't have to worry about the gel causing acne and in turn causing you stress looking for those adult acne remedies.

At $11.99-$19.99, this 2.3 ounce gel is enough for a 30 day supply and definitely what I need RIGHT NOW!

Great CNY/Valentine's Gift for Wives and Mothers

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/13/2010 01:13:00 AM in | 0 comments

I just saw a blog post that featured the latest Tupperware collection for 2010 in conjunction with Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. When I saw it, I immediately wanted to get it for my mom.

I know when it comes to Tupperware, my mom can never have enough. Ever since I could remember, my mother has been using 'em for food storage, whether it's dry food or leftovers. My late dad used to complain a lot about it but to prove a point, my mom stopped using her Tupperware storage and evidently, food weren't as fresh as usual. After all, nothing beats having your food always fresh!

Actually, I have to admit that after being a wife and a mother, I have definitely grown to appreciate the things that my mother brought us up with. Including this! So, hubs, if you're reading, this would be a great gift too! LOL!

Beautiful and Affordable Rental Homes

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/13/2010 12:59:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

For those of you who follow my personal blog, you might know that I am currently planning a vacation with my girlfriends to Singapore. However, we can't seem to get a perfect place to rent and there are more girlfriends who plan to join us.

If only there are gorgeous homes here like the Outer Banks rentals in Carolina, I too wouldn't hesitate to book and rent it immediately. After all, it'll be much cheaper since everyone would be going dutch!

So if any of you have any suggestions where we should stay in Singapore that's great and affordable for all us girls to stay at (nothing seedy, please), by all means, let me know your thoughts!

Custom stickers and labels can be seen everywhere we go. Even on the Bentley that I saw yesterday in my neighborhood. Yep. Even on a Bentley. The sticker was an Allianz Insurance sticker.. So I'm thinking that he might be one of the top guns of that company.

So you see, if you want to be recognized or associated to something, the power of custom stickers and labels are definitely one of the best ways of advertising. Whether you're a party supporter for the upcoming election, or you're a football fan, a school alumni member, anything you want to be, these will definitely get you noticed.

You can also get customized stickers for your business or for signs around your office as well..
They make great organizing labels.. unless of course, your jealous colleague rips it from your belongings, but what are the chances that THAT is going to happen?

Actually, I'm contemplating of getting a customized label to motivate me towards reaching my weight loss goals.. It would either probably something along the lines of "No Rice!!" or maybe something like.. "Step Away from The Fridge!!" gelakguling

Roof Repairs

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/09/2010 11:50:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

When I was back in my hometown the past 2 months, I did notice that the house needed some minor repairs. Especially the roof. As you can see in this pic, the roofing needs some repainting. It looks all blotchy in some spots. Sure, people can't see from below, but when you're out in the balcony, it is a pretty ugly sight! sedih

So while I was searching and googling for roof repairs, I found these guys from Ondura.com that not only do construction for residential areas, but also do commercial, agricultural roofing. If you want to do re-roofing, these guys are experts at it as well. The best part of it is, in this time of global warming, the materials that Ondura uses are eco-friendly as well!

However, since I'm way over here in Malaysia, I guess I'll have to continue my search for roofing repairs. If you're located in the U.S. though, then you might want to check these guys out if you have any roofing dilemmas.

The Golden Years

American Gold Eagle

I was recently watching the news the other day when I saw that the price of gold is at a skyrocketing price!! I remember when I was younger and my mom would go to the goldsmith and have earrings or rings being set.. and the price then was half of what it is today! The recent price was RM118.30 per gram!

Wow, if that's the case, I should just Sell Jewelry already!! Then, with that money, I can just get myself platinum jewelry instead. Never quite fancied gold jewelry anyways.

However, I know that a lot of people are now making lots of profit by selling gold. So if any of you out there want to Sell Gold Coins or Sell Gold bullions, NOW is the time to do it! The gold market is at an all time high!

I'm sure all the Vampire Diaries fans would love this song because this song was featured in Episode 6 of Season 1 of Vampire Diaries, and such a touching moment between Elena and Stefan..

Out With The Old, In With The New

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/05/2010 12:27:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

I saw one of these antique cash registers at a friend's house when I went to visit last Christmas. It was just on display and apparently still able to work. Nowadays, with all sorts of technology, we are so dependent on computerized things that even the modern cash registers are hard to find. With the POS systems, the system comes preconfigured to work straight out of the box and includes receipt printer, barcode scanner, cash drawer, PC, and monitor.. like the image below - which is pretty much the norm nowadays.

Even Monopoly is computerized now! Sure.. things are much easier.. But with your electronic bank cards, there aren't any more old school bragging rights when you have a stack of $500 bills that you fan yourself with.. gatai Right??

So what do you think? You want old school back?

Monopoly Revolution

Posted by Shemah Sham | 2/04/2010 10:09:00 PM in | 0 comments

So while I was browsing online for some term life insurance quotes on the request of my husband, I got a little bit distracted with some sites and one click led to another and before I knew it, I was checking out the latest Monopoly Board Game a.k.a. Monopoly Revolution.

After 75 years after the creation of one of the most famous boardgames ever, the makers of Monopoly have decided to create a more futuristic and upgraded "look". New features include updated “here and now” pricing, an electronic game pod that keeps track of players’ money — via electronic banking cards — and also provides sound effects and song clips that correspond with events in the game.

The new Monopoly will be out in the Fall and retails about $35. So, will you be hoarding this one or will you just be sticking to the classic Monopoly?

Two Is Better Than One!

When I went back to my hometown, I had the chance to check out my brothers other ps3 games that I haven't played yet. I was bored of playing Assassin's Creed because my brother hasn't bought Assassin's Creed 2 and I was getting dizzy playing Ratchet and Clack: Quest for Booty or something like that.

So I decided to play Battlefield: Bad Company.... and MAN! I got so HOOKED! It was awesome.. and I made an awesome Preston Marlowe!! hahahahaha..

Now, I just saw that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be released REALLY soon. I hope my brother pre-books this one!

Release Date: 2nd March 2010!

I'm definitely sure that part 2 will be better than 1!!

A couple of months ago, I stumbled upon a great home security dummy video which looks, moves AND blinks like a REAL home security CCTV that you can install at your home to scare potential robbers away..
