What Does Wheatgrass Juice Do?

Remember just a couple of days ago, that I blogged about how tired I was of being tired?? Well, I got my wish, alright. People always say always be careful of what you wish for and in this case, I wasn't careful. I was careless as all get out!

On Wednesday morning, I was feeling so tired and lethargic that after a long night's sleep, I still can't muster enough energy to stay awake and took another 2 hour midday nap. The problem is, AFTER the said nap, I haven't been able to sleep. It is now 1.29am Friday morning, and I have only managed to sleep for 2 hours. A couple of hours ago, around 9.30pm, I finally felt exhausted enough to go to sleep and I was welcoming a good 8-9 hour rest. However, it turned out that by 11.20pm, I was wide awake, feeling refreshed and energized. Bill and FoongPC, claim that I have broken body clock!! Hahaha.. and I must agree with them on this one.

ANYWAYS, getting to the point, besides fasting, the only change in my dietary menu is, wheatgrass juice. When my mom was here last weekend, she brought with her some canned drinks -- wheatgrass, to be precise. I've been taking it at night (for detox purposes) and I'm beginning to think, that this wheatgrass is the reason why I'm super hyper despite not getting enough sleep in 36 hours.

I checked out to see what is it that wheatgrass actually does for you and this is what I found out.

The high chlorophyll content of wheatgrass juice causes increased Haemoglobin production in the body which increases the oxygen carrying capabilities of the blood. The increased capability of the blood to carry oxygen has a number of health benefits including purification of the blood, improving blood sugar disorders, helping combat toxins such as carbon monoxide and other traffic pollutants, cigarette smoke and heavy metals that can get into the blood.

The brain and other tissues function best when they are in a highly oxygenated environment.

Wheatgrass juice’s high vitamin content is of benefit to some skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and also helps give healthy looking hair. Wheatgrass is also said to benefit dandruff problems.

Many people cite wheatgrass juice as having cancer preventing properties due to it’s carcinogen and toxin neutralising abilities.

Other wheatgrass benefits include:
  • Improved digestion
  • Reducing blood pressure
  • Improved ability of the body to heal wounds
  • Chlorophyll found in wheatgrass can prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
  • Helping prevent tooth decay
  • Has anti-ageing abilities and can keep the hair from greying.

So none of the above said it's an energy booster of sorts... so who can explain my condition? Anyone?
