One of my favorite Idol contestants of all time, Michael Johns collaborates with another Americon Idol contestant, Brooke White, for the soundtrack of the pro-snowboarder Shaun White's ESPN documentary.

I absolutely love this song and I love them both! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Waiting for Generations To Come!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/28/2009 04:12:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Despite being a music lover and a movie crazy person, there's one thing you should know about me. I don't own any MP3 music players, or any of those fancy ipods that many could not live without. Seriously, I kid you not!

iPod Shuffle (3rd Generation)

The thing with gadgets are, every year they come out with a newer "generation" or "breed" that it's just difficult to keep up. Just when you think of getting one, you don't know whether you should just wait for one, or get the older one. If you decide to get the older one, you still have to wait for the newer one to come out so that the older version becomes cheaper. But when you've waited that long, again, you don't know whether you should just get the newer one since you've already waited so long. Get what I mean?

So yeah, I do not own any music gadgetry that has 1001 functions just yet. I'll let you guys know when I do. ;)

Again, my sister Syura has shown me another video last week that I've been meaning to share earlier. It's pretty funny especially when you're very much involved in the Twitterverse or "Twittersphere" as they call it in this video. Personally, I am pretty attached to my Twitter at the moment, and I thought this was hilarious! Check it out and enjoy!!

The Treadmill Bike

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/28/2009 01:11:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Are you the type of person that hates being stuck on a treadmill in a stuffy gym but doesn't want to go jogging outside and getting your trainers dirty? Well, I never thought I'd say this, but yeah.. thanks to the "Treadmill Bike", your wish might actually come true.

I see the purpose of the treadmill bike and all but somehow it doesn't seem stable or even practical. But hey, that's just me. If you're one of those people who are all up for trying something new, then you might want to check out the video demonstration that I found on YouTube.

Spruce Up Your Bathroom!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/26/2009 11:13:00 AM in | 0 comments

If and when I own my own gorgeous home, it doesn't matter whether it's a sprawling estate or a small cottage home, I would love to make sure that the bathrooms in my house would be immaculately perfect. The one thing I do when I check-in to a hotel is check out the bathroom. If it's marbled and gorgeous with perfect lighting, I know my stay would be perfect!

If you'd like to remodel your home with amazing bathroom fixtures, you might want to check BetterBathrooms.com. The site offers a variety of great bathroom products, such as heated towel railings and radiators, mirrors and lightings, shower systems, baths, and much more.

Beautiful luxury bathrooms make for great comfort in your home and might even end up as your favorite retreat in the house. Just light a couple of candles and soak in the bath with a good book or if you get a huge bath, you can just make it an event for two! ;)

So, say no more to white private sanctums that make you feel like you're in an asylum. Bathrooms should be on your remodeling list as well. It doesn't necessarily have to be exclusively luxurious like the picture above, but do make an effort to spruce it up a bit!

Crystal Singing Bowls!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/24/2009 09:41:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

The first time I saw one of these Crystal Singing Bowls, I was accompanying my mom to one of her friend's house for some afternoon tea. My mom's friend had another lady over. Someone who wanted to sell some beautiful crystals to her and since she knew my mother just loves stuff like that, then she invited my mom and me to check it out.

So then as we were browsing through all these crystal collections, bracelets, necklaces, home decors, the lady took out one of these Crystal Singing Bowls. The sound was soooo soothing and very relaxing. Apparently, not only do they make it "sing", but the lady put in some of the crystal bracelets inside and made the crystal bowl "sing" to "energize" the bracelets.

Quartz

So for instance, you buy a rose quartz crystal bangle, right? Rose quartz are apparently a great stone to bring you more luck in love. By putting it in the crystal singing bowl and "energizing" it.. it has more "energy" to attract the power of the stone. As long as it's crystal, you can put it in there and it doesn't have to be necessarily jewellery.

Okay okay.. that just sounds totally loco. However, you call it "superstition" others call it "feng shui". Just like horoscopes, you believe it or you don't, it's just fun to read, right? Besides, anything crystal is just plain beautiful! To be honest, I don't really care too much into it.. I'm just there for the tea and the yummy shortbreak cookies from London! LOL!

MM: Dance With My Father - Luther Vandross

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/22/2009 01:41:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

On June 13th 2009, it marked 8 years since my dear father left us and I miss him dearly.. more and more as each day passes by. The memories of him linger and I hold on to it because I'm afraid that one day my memories of him just fade away.

Anyways, this Music Monday, I chose one of my fave songs by Luther Vandross. A song that I can relate to and makes me cry every single time I listen to it.

Here's Dance With My Father..

Poker Face!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/19/2009 09:17:00 AM in | 0 comments

The one and only time I've ever been to the casino was when we went to the Crown Casino in Melbourne. I was 15 years old at that time and my parents just brought us to have a look around the place.

Nowadays, the only casinos that I come close to are Online Casinos. Even that, I'm not sure whether Texas Hold 'Em Poker on Facebook counts as an online casino. However, playing games online is way better than actually playing in an actual game. I seriously don't think I have what it takes to play a game of poker at a casino. I think I'm not that much of a liar and you can tell on my face. Needless to say, my unexperienced "poker face" will get me losing my moolah so fast that I won't even know what hit me. I don't know how people do it!

Just take a look at the movie "21", for instance. You can't even tell by the look on their face that they were counting cards (which is illegal) by the way. If it were up to me, I think I'd need a calculator by my side.

Anyways, for those looking to have some fun and can't afford to go for a trip to Vegas, you might just want to stay put and let loose at an online casino. But I don't think that I can even afford THAT right now! LOL!

Make Way For Noddy**

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/19/2009 08:36:00 AM in | 0 comments

From super umbrellas to the tissue helmet, we have seen some pretty weird inventions going on. The thing is with these wacky inventions, some are really practical but just downright embarassing to actually be caught using them.

Take a look at these inventions for instance. The purpose: To prevent nodding off on some stranger's shoulder when you're on the subway.

This tripod chin rest looks like this lady got hanged right then and there in the subway.

The second one is a bit more practical but still, I don't think I'd be caught dead using this on the subway. But that's just me. And I can't help but wonder what exactly is written on the helmet. LOL!

What say you? Yay or Nay??

Viva Las Vegas!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/15/2009 12:54:00 AM in | 0 comments

My dear friend Bill is going off to Las Vegas for a vacation and I'm so jealous! Everyone seems to be going somewhere these days. Mariuca just got back from Japan and now it's Bill's turn for a vacay. Although Bill did offer me to be able to use his discounted at select Vegas hotels if I ever chose to stay there.. So that was a plus!! But before I even plan to go to Vegas, I have to make my planned Christmas vacation to Australia happen first!! I've been planning and planning and planning.. and I just hope this time it pulls through.. Wish me luck!!

Life Insurance for Senior Citizens

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/14/2009 09:40:00 PM in | 0 comments

My mother was wheeled into the emergency room once upon a night some time last month. We still don't know what caused the excruciating pain in her back that night but then it was a wake up call for all of us because we had no idea on what insurance plan my mother was under.. if she even had one or not.

Ignorant, right? But yeah.. Insurance policies might seem really trivial to most of us, especially when you're being flooded with calls from insurance telemarketers. However when the times comes when you really need them, you would wish you gave them the time of day.

I am aware though, that when you're a senior citizen, it's rather hard to find a policy that will cover you. Keep in mind, though, there are several companies that do offer term life insurance for seniors. So if my mother's insurance does indeed expire, I know where to get a good coverage with excellent service. Just in case.. but she's doing great now. Interested? You might want to check out more here.

The Weather and Pappa Rich

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/14/2009 12:10:00 AM in | 0 comments

The weather here in KK is pretty damn hot. There hasn't been much rain even way before since I arrived and it doesn't look like it's going to rain anytime soon.

Anyways, hot weather always gets you craving for some cold dessert and I still haven't gotten over the ABC Special at Pappa Rich.

For my non-Malaysian blogging comrades, ABC stands for "air batu campur". Air batu means iced water while campur means mixed. Formerly, ABC was just made of shaved ice and red beans. But nowadays, there are so many different concoctions that are mixed in, from fruit jellies to aloe vera.

Pappa Rich is one of my favorite eateries that I like to frequent and they make one really mean ABC Special. So in this current heatwave, I am sooo craving for one! This mixture of shaved ice, cendol, sweetcorn, peanuts, red bean, topped with ice cream and lychee drenched with sweet syrup is just too heavenly to pass up!

Can't have that one too often though.. you might need a diet pill like Apidexin on standby if you have that one too many times! LOL! So if you see me waddling around like a beached walrus, then you know whose fault it is!

Memory Upgrade!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/13/2009 11:54:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

I was trying to upload some pictures from my vacation here in KK when I noticed that my laptop memory space was running out. When I got my laptop here as a Christmas present from my hubby 2 years ago, I thought that the specs were awesome and I thought that the 250GB memory would never run out. But the time has come when I am only left with some 7GB in my laptop!

So now, either I get a computer memory upgrade or I get an external hard drive. However, I think I'll go for the latter.. it's much easier that way and much cheaper, I figure. But then again, I have no idea at all about these things.. So excuse me while I check with Mr. Google!!!

Here's the all-girl Korean group, Girls Generation (SNSD) with their comeback song, Gee.

Let's see whether you'll be hearing it looped in your brain for the whole of today! Enjoy!!

And...here we go!

1. 8 months in my new place and it's finally starting to feel like home.

2. My favorite thing for dinner lately has been causing me to gain even more unnecessary lbs.

3. I think having Kristin Cavallari on The Hills is barking mad! bark! bark! bark!

4. A nice long walk is just what I need right now.

5. I can't wait to hear some good news.

6. When all is said and done, there's really nothing else you could say.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to dinner at Fatty Crab (oops!!), tomorrow my plans include writing all the movie reviews that are overdue for my Just Press Play blog and Sunday, I want to just chillax in front of the tv!

Note: My fills-ins are in bold purple.

Island Getaway!!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 6/02/2009 03:11:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

Ever since I read one of Sandra Brown's romance novels - the characters whose love blossomed at Hilton Head Island, I have been intrigued by the place. Located in Beaufort County, South Carolina, Hilton Head has become an increasingly popular vacation destination in the past decade. So much so that the islands population growth over the past decade was recorded at 32%.

I believe that for retirees looking for a quiet, beautiful and relaxing place to settle down, Hilton Head South Carolina is a great choice. Also, at Hilton Head, the government enforces a Land Management Ordinance that minimizes the impact of development so that the wildlife and environment can still be preserved.

Sounds like heaven, doesn't it? You've got your beach resorts and golf country clubs (for those avid golfers) but the beaches and wildlife are still intact and not over developed. So calling all retirees and nature lovers, you might want to check out Hilton Head real estate right away!
