All In The Name Of Beauty

Forget botox, forget collagen injections.... It might be the instant way to get smooth, tight skin but do you seriously want to live your life with people not knowing whether you're upset or pleased??

If you decide to go for plastic surgery, please remember that things can turn horribly wrong and the more you try to fix it, the worse it will become. Do you honestly think that Jocelyn Wildenstein really wanted to turn her once beautiful face into what it is now?

Don't be afraid to grow old gracefully.. by taking nutritional health supplements regularly, you can always maintain a healthy and youthful appearance! Think about it!

LED Jellyfish Mood Lamps!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/29/2009 10:01:00 AM in | 0 comments

When I was watching the movie Seven Pounds - the movie starring Will Smith and Rosario Dawson - well, I thought it was sooo cool that he had kept a jellyfish tank instead of an ordinary fish aquarium. As dangerous as they are, they are beautiful to look at and it's so calming and serene watching them move with such fluidity.

I've got 2 little children and there's no way I'm having a tank full of jellyfish.. so I'm really excited that I found this jellyfish mood lamp that gives you sort of the same feel sans danger and poison.

Check it out!

LED Jellyfish Mood Lamp

It features:

* Lifelike jellyfish movement
* 6 bright LEDs - cycle through colors or select your favorite one

This LED Jellyfish Mood Lamp retails at $34.99 and is out of stock at the moment. It's estimated to be restocked in 1-3 weeks. Check out more here.

Super Umbrellas!*

It's looks like it's about to rain heavily and it's making me a tad bit lazy to go out today. Hubby knows that I am feeling stressed and he's trying to make it up to me by bringing me out for dinner (nothing fancy) and take my mind off things for a while.

But with the rain that's gonna come down hard in a half hour or so, I'm not so sure anymore whether I want to go. Ane was mentioning to me that her sister hates going out in rain because she doesn't want to get her feet wet..

Well, here's what I recommend:

And on top of that....

Verdict?? Yay or Nay??

Be A Dr. Gregory House!!

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/18/2009 01:41:00 AM in | 0 comments

I'm not exactly crazy over the tv show, "House" starring Hugh Laurie as the unemotional Dr. Gregory House. However, I really love the way that he is almost usually the only person to be able to diagnose a patient's sickness or disease. That makes him a great doctor despite his detachment towards his patients and colleagues.

Anyways, if you fantasize about being a "Dr. House" then you too can learn about disease symptoms. You can even Check out these cool brain facts by the Amen Clinics that will change your perspective towards this very important organ. You can see more information about Amen Clinic's founder, Dr Amen here.

As for myself, I'd really like to check out those facts too, coz the swelling in my feet is back and I would really know why it happens. Especially when the doctors over at a specialist centre back in my hometown can't diagnose what's wrong with me.

Dr. House!! Help!!

The Ken Karpman Story

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/17/2009 06:09:00 PM in ,,| 0 comments

I'm sure most of you guys have heard about Ken Karpman - the millionaire turned pizza delivery driver??

For those of you who haven't heard or read the story, Ken Karpman is a Wall Street whiz and CEO to his hedge fund business. But when his business went south, Ken Karpman, who was earning an annual salary of $750,000 got a job delivering pizza with a minimum wage of $7.50 an hour. Karpman has an MBA from UCLA and worked for several major brokerage firms before starting his own hedge fund.

It's a no-brainer why he took the job as a pizza delivery driver. With this economy, companies are retrenching their workers and it's not easy finding an Executive placement. He has a family with two young kids to support. It's no easy feat and embarassing but Karpman says, "It sucks, but at some point you have to swallow your pride and put food on the table."

However, when ABCActionNews.com broke the news, everyone wanted to get a hold of Ken Karpman. From ABC's 20/20 to Good Morning America... and later on Dr. Phil and Oprah! Offers are piling high for this wall street whiz.. some still no better than the pizza delivery job but most are executive positions with executive salaries.

So it's good news for Ken Karpman, and I hope it will be good news for all of those affected by layout all across the globe. For executives who are in the same position as Ken Karpman, you can always get ahold of an executive search firm.

Standing proud and alongside other top executive search firms in the nation, Spencer Stuart has a mission to provide quality executive recruitment services to various corporations. Know more about the accomplishments and successful placements of Spencer Stuart here.

I wish everyone good luck and all the best during these trying times.

Ai Carramba!! Las Carretas!!**

Ever since I watched a feature on "BBQ Paradise" on the Travel and Living Channel yesterday, I was craving some serious meat. Not just some ordinary grilled steak either. I want some BBQ-ribs Tex-Mex menu that I could just sink my teeth into.

*looking left to right*

Okay, coast clear! Excuse me, but I had to make sure that my BFF Rozie-the-vegan isn't around! diam

So anyways, sure there are plenty of places to get some BBQ ribs, however, majority of the places in KL that do sell these Tex-Mex galore, serve BBQ pork ribs as well (It is after all the original Texan BBQ). BUT that's a no-no for me. takbole

I was going to settle for Roadhouse Grill Steakhouse, which I love, but ever since they closed shop in One Utama, the only place I can get RGS, is in Ampang, which is seriously too far for me to go for some ribs. Someone mentioned Outback Steakhouse in Bangsar too but I've read a couple of bad reviews.

So after spending the night searching for , I finally found a great Tex-Mex place called Las Carretas which I think means "The Wagon". Reviews about this place is really good.. so far I haven't come across a bad review and Syura's friends have also recommended this place. Plus, it's only some 10 minutes away from my place which is a major plus. As for the prices, it is pretty reasonable but it can also go up to RM165 for a 500gm Charbroiled US Corn-Fed Rib Eye.

US Beef Back Ribs @ Las Carretas

So if you too are like me, looking for a great place for steaks and BBQ ribs, (and sick of the overrated TGIF), this Mexican Restaurant, Las Carretas in Taipan Subang Jaya that serves a Tex-Mex menu, might just be the place for you. You can check out the Las Carretas menu (with pricing) here.

Las Carretas @ Subang Jaya

Bear in mind that I haven't been there yet, but I'm planning to check it out. So this is not a food review, this is just me and my cravings!

However, if I were to go, you can count on a review!! kenyit

p/s: As I've mentioned before, I will not be responsible for hungry stomachs and sudden cravings for meat.. Next time, don't bloghop on an empty stomach! ihikhik But just in case you are hungry, here's a cup of steaming coffee to curb that hunger.. minum

Dreaming of La Jolla..

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/15/2009 03:29:00 PM in | 0 comments

Out of the many, many cities in U.S. that I would really want to go to, I would have to say that La Jolla, California is one of MY top picks. The weather is beautiful all year round and the coastline of beaches and cliffs is just too beautiful to pass up. Did you know that La Jolla occupies seven miles of curving coastline along the Pacific Ocean?? rindu

Not forgetting the fact that La Jolla is also well known for it's shopping - the upscale boutique and import shops make it an elite shopping destination! As for the restaurants in La Jolla California, it is guaranteed to soothe your palette with amazing gourmet food.

I believe if I were to finish my studies in the program of my choice, then I’d have to finish my final year over at the University of San Diego. That means, La Jolla would only be a stone’s throw away…. rindu

I guess the only thing now that I have to do is to save more and more "kaching" before I can follow through with my plans...

I Think We're Alone Now**

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/13/2009 02:46:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

I grew up in the 80's and loved everything about it.. from the cartoons that I love so much, to the movies and also the great 80's music. I was as young as 4 and already memorized Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer. I loved the rock bands - mullets and all.. but I also was a sucker for "girl power" singers - Madonna, The Bangles, Bananarama, Debbie Gibson, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, etc..

One of my faves was Tiffany 'coz I remember thinking I wanna have that reddish/auburn hair just like hers 'coz she's absolutely gorgeous!

So here's one of my fave songs from Tiffany, "I Think We're Alone Now".. ENJOY!

Timex TX54 Nail Watch*

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/11/2009 05:35:00 PM in | 0 comments

Forget your french manicures, ladies! As for the guys, you can start paying more attention to your nails. Timex, in collaboration with Core77 has come up with a global design competition called 2154:The Future of Time.

The runner-up in this design competition came up with the Timex TX54 Disposable Nail Watch concept which featured a stylishly futuristic watch that you can attach to your thumb.

Thanks to a translucent body, the design blends seamlessly with the nail while a selection of text color options and a glow feature activating on command make it supremely functional as well. How cool is that?

You can actually unleash your inner geek nerd while still looking super cool! However, since it's only a concept design, no word has been given by Timex for the time being whether they'll actually start producing these nail watches. But it would be really cool to own one, don'tcha think? kenyit

Global Warming Mug*

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/08/2009 04:49:00 PM in ,| 0 comments

I made a big UH-OH this afternoon! I turned my back on my little Allie for a second and next thing I knew, she climbed on the chair and threw down Daddy's favorite coffee mug. Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! While I was panicking, Allie was looking at me with the cheekiest grin on her face and watching me panic. Yes, that was the moment I decided I'll just blame it on her. Yep. I'm not gonna say how I turned my back on her for a minute.

Oh well, now I'm on a mission to find out another coffee mug and came across the "Global Warming Mug". I think it's so cool how the mug has a map of the world on it and when you pour hot water/hot drinks in it, parts of the land mass will disappear - the effect of global warming.

You can check out more disappearing mugs with other themes, such as Adam and Eve, Disappearing Dinosaurs, Henry VIII etc. I don't know if my hubby will like the mugs but it IS fun and it's a great gift... Let's just see how he reacts after I tell him later when he gets back from work..

Morale of the story: Stop twittering.

MM: Himala - Rivermaya**

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/06/2009 12:23:00 AM in ,| 0 comments

In keeping with my international song choice "theme", I decided to choose one of my favorite Filipino songs that I never get bored of listening to. I don't know what it means, nor can I sing-a-long to it, but I love it. I love the band, even before they changed the singer to the current lead singer (I don't know his name).

I think this song came out in the mid 90s and it's been almost a decade and it's still sitting in one of the "most played songs" list on my iTunes. Here's Rivermaya's "Himala".

Ah-Choo!!*

Posted by Shemah Sham | 4/05/2009 09:03:00 PM in | 0 comments

I am one of those unlucky people who gets affected so badly by things that we human beings should live to enjoy.. like the scent of perfume.. or cuddling with kittens or puppies.. or the simple joy of cleaning up your house. (Okay, I'm seriously kidding on the cleaning bit).

But really, if someone spritzes anything around me or if I'm stuck in the elevator with a "spritzer", I'll sneeze. Furry animals, double the trouble. My nose would morph into a faucet of never ending slimy mucus. Hah! Definitely not an image that you'd like to keep but hey, that's the ugly truth.

So maybe during one of these episodes, this will really come in handy..

Would YOU wear this?
